HSL was delighted to secure orders for six market leading Hologic 3Dimensions™ Mammography Systems as part of three hospital installations at Cork University Hospital, three systems, St James’s University Hospital Dublin, two systems plus one unit at University Hospital Waterford. “The orders formed part of an HSE Breast Imaging tender and installations by HSL’s team of highly skilled engineers are now complete. Applications training is also well under way and customers are delighted with their decisions”, advised Breidge Flood, HSL’s Diagnostic imaging territory manager.
The Hologic 3Dimensions™ Mammography System is widely recognised for its unrivalled performance providing outstanding 2D and 3D images for radiologists, a better and more comfortable examination for patients and enhanced workflow for mammographers. With results backed by more than 200 clinical studies, four of the eight dedicated symptomatic breast centres in the HSE now have the capability of utilising tomosynthesis to further aid early breast cancer detection.
“The introduction of tomosynthesis to our symptomatic service has simplified the diagnostic work up and increased accuracy. The establishment of synthesized 2D mammography (Intelligent2D™) as a viable alternative to conventional digital mammography will allow us to achieve this goal with no additional radiation dose to our patients”, said Dr Ronan McDermott, consultant radiologist at St James’s.
Each installation comprises the Hologic 3Dimensions™ unit, an Affirm™ Tomosynthesis Breast Biopsy Guidance System as well as a Brevera™ Biopsy Console, offering the user real time visualisation of core samples. CAD and QUANTRA (breast density) software has been installed at each site, thereby equipping centres with the complete suite of Hologic Mammography solutions.
Commenting on the achievement, Paula Scully, now HSL’s GB business consultant, former EMEA business director for Hologic said, “I have great confidence in the HSL team both in Ireland and GB to deliver our tough sales objectives. As a customer-focused organisation HSL has assembled a great portfolio of market-leading products for sale in the UK / Ireland market. In addition to the proven Hologic Mammography Systems, we offer the range of Shimadzu Digital Radiography solutions for x-ray and mobiles, along with other x-ray solutions covering dental, veterinary and allied institutions plus a range of associated hardware and consumables”.
